Specifically the in-game text not changing when they disable the game.If this is happening to you, dont worry, you can still play both versions of the game All youll need to do is find your Rise of the Witch-king base directory.Once youve located this directory (typically C:Program FilesElectronic ArtsThe Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king), youre ready to manually enabledisable the patch.
In your base Rise of the Witch-king directory, youll see many different files. The ones youre concerned with start with unofficialpatch202 with the.big extension. These files contains the bulk of the patch. Without them, you cant play U2.02. ![]() We think youre silly but we wont hold it against you. Perhaps some of you will even play U2.02 but want to occasionally play a few games of 2.01. Its ok, we all have our guilty pleasures. Youre also probably reading this because you tried to disable the patch but were unsuccessful for one reason or another. Good news - you can still manually enabledisable the patch Remember those files mentioned at the start of the previous paragraph, the ones that start with unofficialpatch202 Youll need to change their file extensions from.big to.bak (or.disabled, if you prefer). Once youve done this, the game will no longer see them and most of the patch will be disabled. This is a cosmetic issue and wont affect the game play in any way, but its nice when the in-game text matches the version of the game youre playing. To find these files, open the lang folder in your base directory. The ones installed by the patch start with englishstrings202. ![]() Once youve done this, the patch will be completely disabled and you can play 2.01. Now, should you find yourself yearning for balance when playing 2.01, you can enable the patch manually just as easily as you disabled it. Simply revert the file extension and the next time you start the game youll be able to enjoy U2.02 again. ![]() We recommend sorting the files in the game directory by name, and then simply moving the 2.02 files out of the game directory and into another location.
